Yoshinari Hanare

Located at Plaza Damas, took over the place where SAI SAI used to be. Yoshinari Hanare is a new concept branch of Yoshinari, serving two tasting menu that will not burn a hole to your wallet.

They offer Omakase Sushi Course that is priced at Rm 150; comes with appetizer, nine pieces of sushi, seasonal sashimi, two seasonal dishes and dessert. The Dashi Course comes with 5 dishes, priced at Rm 80, with dishes made of fresh goods and produces. If you need something extra, do find yourself with some additional orders and sashimi from their a la carte menu.

I am a big fan of Yoshinari, always fancy their cooked dishes and dinner course which are always comforting and satisfying. Very happy to see that they have a new branch now that is located so near to each other. But at the same time, also sad to see that SAI SAI is no more around. Super miss their oden, tempura, teba gyoz, obanzai to pair with a glass or two.

The night, we had the Omakase Sushi Course, to celebrate a friend’s birthday! I must say this course is very value for money. For just Rm 150, I got really good creamy sweet oyster, sweet hotate, fatty chutoro, nice aori ika, very inviting kohada (ahhh it has been a long while I get to taste kohada; this one had a great balance of sourish flavour) and sweet and creamy uni! The shari was fairly alright (of course you cannot compare to those very atas sushiya lar), and I was very satisfied on this course meal with the given price and items I got. Very value for money.

As for the first hot dish, my friends got the Chicken Meatball while I got the tempura (because chicken meatball has lotus root inside). I love the crispy fish tempura wrapped with shiso leaf, and to dip with the salt given at the side.

Sakura Shrimp Satsumaage was lovely too. Comforting, umami and filled with fresh sea essence.

Okay, first thing first. We were unable to finish the whole bottle, so we ordered all the 3 carafes available, all at the volume of 180ml per carafe – Koikawa Junmai Shu SE (Rm 30), Manotsuru Karakuchi Junmai (Rm 38) and Komagura Tokubetsu Junmai (Rm 58). All of us fancied the last one tokubetsu junmai that came with a hint of floral fruity note but they were all very well paired with the savoury.
