Sushiro @ Suria KLCC, Kuala Lumpur
Sushiro
I am extremely excited to see that this budget-friendly sushi chain is now in Malaysia; serving sushi with the freshest ingredients imported directly from Japan. I daresay this is currently the best kaiten (conveyor belt) sushi in KL.
I have visited three times within a month. The first time it was during their Ootoro promotion at Rm 5.8 per piece, we spent a bit of time on the queue but we didn’t queue up for long as it was not the peak dining time yet. The second time, it was after the promotion ended, there wasn’t too long queue during dinner peak hour (at time of my visit). Waiting time was about 5 to 10 minutes only. On the third time, we spent about 30 minutes to be seated. And that was slightly on the peak dining hours.
As usual, conveyer belt sushi chains charges as according to the color of the plate. Red is priced at Rm 5.8, Silver at Rm 7.8, Gold is Rm 10.8 and Black is at Rm 15.8. My friend and I spent about Rm 75 per pax on our first visit and second visit was Rm 55 per pax as we aimed mostly the red colored plates. On the third visit, it was about Rm 70 per pax. On average, we had about 7 plates of sushi per pax.
They offer Loyalty Card to the diners at the end of the meal. Collect stamps to exchange for Rm 3 vouchers and the plushies! I want the biggest sushi plushie! Hopefully I can get it one day which means I need to visit more !
I was satisfied with the shari (vinegared rice), it was pretty good; the rice grains were in its chewy fluffiness and softly hinted with the sourish tang (from the vinegar). The neta(s) were pretty fresh! My favourites are definitely the Negitoro and Ikura Tsutsumi. I could have numerous plates of these two items every time I dine in here.
Grated wasabi in packets will run around on the conveyor belt or you can have it order and send directly to your table.
Sushiro’s soy sauce, sweet soy sauce and halal soy sauce and chopsticks on the table.
Self-service on hot green tea and pickled ginger.
I was quite skeptical when it comes to Hikarimono in conveyer belt sushi chain but well, okay… the Aji and Saba passed with flying colours for the chain standard. Both were pretty good during my visits.
I also fancy their Cold Chawanmushi that came loaded with ingredients and the egg custard was silky smooth.
For dessert, do check out the Warabi Mochi (Rm 6) and Catalana Ice Brulee (Rm 10.8). I find the Warabi Mochi was pretty soft in jelly-liked texture while Catalana Ice Brulee was creamy and topped with that caramelized cracking layer.
