Shan Mu @ Taman Connaught, Cheras
This café has been here and there on my social media for quite a long time, my friends have visited for numerous times and told me about it, yet I didn’t make chance to locate it. I just kept it in my list and thinking… okay, one day I will go. Until one day, I found out that it was actually located right next to my favourite Sabah’s sang nyuk mien pork noodles place!
Shan Mu 山木
Shan Mu is a humble hidden place located right next to Sin Hing Long Sabah Pork Noodle and also sharing the same row with Madam Chiam Curry Noodle House . Totally unnoticeable until I put in extra 10 seconds to observe the wooden signboard and the wooden entrance. So artistic!
The interior is filled with rustic wood craft feel. Warm wood accents with comfortable seating, the walls are adorned with an artistic touches and even filled with soft lighting creates an inviting atmosphere. I find calmness inside here. Best to chill with a book and coffee or a chat date with bffs.
Flat White (Rm 15) and Houjicha Latte (Rm 16)
Fried King Oyster Mushroom (Rm 20)
King oyster mushroom served with wasabi mayo dipping. An addictive bites.
Kaya Coffee Butter (Rm 16)
Pandan kaya and coffee infused butter sandwiched in between nicely toasted sourdough slices, and final garnished with some edible flowers. Aromatic and presentable. We love this order of aromatic coffee butter scent on the crispy edges and soft center sourdough. As I bite on this kaya coffee butter sourdough, I found the flavour was very familiar; so familiar but I couldn’t recall what it was. After a day, then we only found out, its flavour was very similar to rotiboy. Love it! Will definitely be back for this!
Salmon Ochazuke (Rm 30)
Poach salmon, bonito flakes, seaweed, soft-boiled egg served on a bed of fluffy rice and side with Japanese Sencha. Truly a comforting rice dish with the perfectly poached salmon and a pour over of Japanese Sencha.
