The Old Man, Hong Kong takes over WOOBAR

World’s 50 Best Bars The Old Man from Hong Kong took over WOOBAR, W Kuala Lumpur on 16th August from evening onwards! We got to taste these specially crafted cocktails by the well-known mixologist Nikita Matveev from The Old Man, Hong Kong.

During this event, all the listed cocktails are priced at Rm 45 nett; a cocktail and a dessert set is priced at Rm 68 nett. I like that the price are all nett and reasonably priced. Taxes are all inclusive in the nett prices Yay.

If you have missed out the last Friday’s session, there will be another session with Nikita Matveev from The Old Man Hong Kong on 18th August, 3pm onwards (which is today!!); with cocktails starting from Rm 40 nett! Well-oiled Race
Three olive distilled gin, sour apple, black cardamom, leek N caper brine
Ohh, I like this! The layering was quite a wow. It was savoury on the palate in the very first place, then sourish apple flavour, and then the leek caper! It surprised me (and my tastebuds of course), the layering was very exciting! It was something I have not come across in cocktails. If there is a chance, I think I really need to visit The Old Man in Hong Kong for more of his creations.

Planteray rum, fermented carrot, guava distillate, tarragon, suze, Perrier Lemon, Dill
An easy to drink cocktail, citrusy with guava and scented with dill; in an appealing lady will love kind of colour too!

Perrier grapefrult, tequila, mescal, Frangelico, clarified grapefruit, Matcha foam
Quite a surprising combination; with matcha at the front layer and grapefruit slipped in later.

Kopi (Rm 35)
Biscoff crumb, snickers chocolate, coffee brioche toast, chocolate soft serve.
To our surprise, the dessert was really huge in portion! We’d thought it would be some tiny dainty finger desserts, but it was huge! LOL.

Before leaving, I managed to taste a sip of Heychilipadi’s Espresso Martini which was highly dosed and kicking! WOW! I must must must visit them when travelling to Hong Kong.
