Kamimura Japanese Restaurant @ Taman Danau Desa, KL
Kamimura Japanese Restaurant
Little did I remember, my last visit to Kamimura was back in 2016, at their old place inside The Weld shopping complex. Happy to see that they have now relocated to this new place in Taman Danau Desa, taking up a premise at the first floor, right above Watson. Yay, nearer to me again and I do not have the jungle through the traffic if I am cravings for good Japanese delights.
Kamimura Japanese Restaurant serves homey Japanese cooked dishes (as for now). There is a wide selection of dishes on the menu, ranging from appetizer to fried dish, salad to simmered dishes, and tummy fillers such as onigiri, donburi, udon and soba.
I have been here twice and here is the compilation of both of my visits. I was with friends on my first visit so most of my orders were snack bites and fried dishes to go with sake. Really love their appetizer bites to go with the sake! Their dishes create a great harmonious melody with the sake we had!
As for the second visit, I was here with my family; so I ordered mainly the tummy fillers and some fried bites. And I must say Kamimura serves really delicious bits and all of them go great with sake or a beer!
First thing first, a bottle of sake to pair with our meal! Sake always compatible well with Japanese snack dishes/ appetizer!
Beautiful sake cups
Daikon Sarada (Rm 10)
Thinly sliced radish served with plum sauce. This had our attention as it was super refreshing for just a simple sliced radish salad, drenched with their special salad dressing.
Ginnan Karaage (Rm 11)
Deep fried gingko nuts and sprinkled with salt. Seriously an addictive stuff, or a beer snack, or a sake snack.
Jikasei Satsumaage (Rm 20)
Deep fried homemade fish cake
Shirauo Karaage (Rm 23)
Deep fried ice fish with salt. Another great sake snack! I couldn’t stop munching, haha!
Morokoshi Edamame Kake
An off menu item and depends on the day’s availability
Batter of prawns, edamame and sweet corns. Crisp and sweet. A squeeze of lemon juice gave a nice tang to it. We were very surprise how sweet it was!
Kisu Tempura (Rm 25)
Deep fried fish in batter
Kani Cream Korokke (Rm 23)
Croquette with crab meat in really cute size. Deep fried into perfection with crispy outer shell and cream smooth center. Yumz!
Mochi Chisu Age (Rm 19)
Deep fried bread with Japanese rice cake cheese and seaweed paste. Interesting combination and it was surprisingly good. Cheesy and chewy mochi center, hinted with savoury seaweed paste. Must have it while it is still piping hot or u will get some nag from the lady boss: Faster eat, faster eat before it turns cold. LOL.
Mix Rosu and Fillet Katsu
Pork Cutlets were breaded with crumbs and deep fried into golden brown, very tender on the inside. Love that they were not greasy at all. Pairing well with the spicy sourish tonkatsu sauce.
Niku Jaga (Rm 19)
Country style simmered sliced pork, potato and carrot
Buta Niku Soba (Rm 26)
Soba in soup topped with stir fried sliced pork. The stir fried sliced pork was very aromatic and it gave its flavours to the soba soup too! My brother approved!
Tenzaru Inaniwa Udon (Rm 38)
Cold flat wheat noodles paired with tempura prawns. Love this cold noodles, my kind of udon as it was thinner and flatter, chewy in texture!
Oyako Don (Rm 28)
A classic comfort Japanese dish with cooked chicken cubes, egg and onion topped over a bed of fluffy rice. This was our least favourite as the rice grains were soggy and the chicken was not as flavourful.
