Common Man Night Shift
Now… when the moon is out to play, Common Man Coffee Roaster picks up the Night Shift and transforms itself into another great scene, offering totally a different menu that is filled with great sharing plates, mains and sourdough pizzas; dosed with great flavours and hinted with a lil’s Japanese and Mediterranean twists. Best of all, there is a huge selection of natural wines available; you get to wind down the night with a glass or two, pairing perfectly with the scrumptious dishes.
First thing first – NATURAL WINE!!
I am very new to natural wine and so I was introduced to these two types below by the friendly staff. When you do not know where to choose from, or how to choose, ask them! They are more than happy to help. And do you know that, on Fridays, if you order 5 main courses, you will get a complementary bottle of natural wine! So why wait?! The more the merrier, bring your buddies along to kick start the weekend! Make your reservation now!
Mauzac Rose
This Orange Wine appears in a beautiful orangey hues has a special hint of pomegranate!!! I like this one! Very refreshing and fruity with the pomegranate and a citrus tang!
Vigneti Del Sole Primitivo di Manduria
While this Italian Red Wine is intense with red fruit note, rounded and soft tannins, very easy to go on the palate.
Duck & Foie Gras Pie (Rm 63)
Duck, black truffle, foie gras, puff pastry, burnt apple puree, orange miso sauce, arugula and fennel salad.
Perfect combination layered with duck and foie gras and hinted with truffle, fatty yet aromatic, and flaky buttery puff pastry; paired with the tangy apple puree and umami miso sauce, the whole combination to us was just … ohhh wowww, yumzzz!
One with the drizzle of sauce.
Fried Chicken (Rm 33)
Chicken karaage served with kimchi mayo dip.
Made really crispy and greaseless, perfectly battered and fried into golden brown. The fried chicken was super juicy on the inside and crispy on the outside. And inside out, it was bursting with mega flavours. The given kimchi mayo dip instantly changed the flavour, giving an extra tang to the fried chicken! This dish went great with the Orange Wine we had!
Panzanella (Rm 33)
Roma tomatoes, cucumbers, charred cherry tomatoes, sourdough croutins, chives, basil, peanuts and sesame brittle, mustard dressing.
A classic Italian tomato salad that came loaded with lots of tomato cuts and fresh herbs, layered with crunchy bits like candied peanuts and sesame brittles and croutons, giving an extra texture to the whole refreshing combo. I truly enjoyed the tomatoes, lightly hinted with sweetness, refreshing and that mustard dressing spiced up everything.
Green Hummus (Rm 28)
Hummus, laksa leaf, Chinese parsley, mixed herbs, pomegranate, sumao and served with oregano flatbread.
This was so great with the sourdough flat bread, so aromatic with all the herbs blend. We mopped clean with the chewy flat bread.
Sourdough Flatbread with Garlic Butter (Rm 12)
Another flatbread option that goes great with the hummus! This one was filled with garlicky aroma!
Okinawa Black Sugar Tiramisu (Rm 25)
Mascarpone, hojicha, savoiardi, kinako powder, sourdough crumbs, Okinawa and soy caramel syrup.
This one has got my brain exploding! I am not exaggerating!!! It is not your typical tiramisu that is filled with coffee and alcohol based, Common Man Roaster’s one is very special. It is filled with aromatic hojicha and drizzle with Okinawa soy caramel syrup; creamy, aromatic, with sweet and savoury ending. Honestly, it will make you keep spooning one after another even tummy is very stuffed from the mains!
