SAI SAI Japanese Restaurant @ Plaza Damas, Hartamas
SAI SAI Japanese Restaurant 菜彩
A simple no frills Japanese Restaurant, taking up half-a-shoplot here in Plaza Damas, SAI SAI Japanese Restaurant is truly a hidden gem, dishing out their best Japanese home cooked dishes.
Dining in SAI SAI makes me feel like transported straight back to Japan. Just like what we get the scene in Japanese drama, with Japanese families coming in, also the salary men settle their dinner here after work, gulped down a glass of really chilled beer or highball before heading home.
I was hoping for the presence of oden that night, the perfect comfort dish to savour on a raining evening. Sadly, it was not available. Guess I will have to frequent here again to catch on this special dish.
Lemon Chuhai (Rm 18)
Tofu Salad (Rm 22)
A refreshing starter to more fried food and meat next. How do they make such appetizing wafu dressing?!
Kizu Tempura
Or known as garfish, lightly batter and deep fried into perfection, paired with shiso tempura and served along with the tempura dipping sauce, grated radish and salt. They were cut into smaller pieces before serving, knowing that we were sharing this. Such sweet gesture.
Karaage (Rm 21)
Deep fried into crispy golden brown; it must be packed with ginger sauce during marination as we could really taste the punch of ginger on the batter.
Deep Fried Horse Mackerel (Rm 21)
One of my favourite deep fried dishes. the Aji Furai is served with tonkatsu sauce and special mayonnaise dipping sauce.
Teba Gyoza (Rm 22)
Chicken wings is deboned and stuffed with gyoza fillings, this is something really special, a must try!
Grilled Pork Chop in Miso
Stir Fried Bitter Gourd (Rm 19)
Obanzai, simple traditional style of Japanese cuisine native to Kyoto; introduced by the owner to us, for us to try! Thank you.
Thanks to my friends for preparing our favourite cake from Lacher Patisserie ! Feel so loved having this signature of theirs!
