Stay & Dine Experience @ The Chow Kit, KL
The Chow Kit – An Ormond Hotel in Kuala Lumpur
Located in the center of Kuala Lumpur city, The Chow Kit is a simple boutique hotel with heart-wowing interiors, offering a small luxury concept to accommodate all types of travellers.
I must say every corner here is very instagrammable.
My friend and I find their Stay & Dine Experience very worth spending on; we stayed in twice. On this package, you may book the Den Room, Twin Den, King Den or Towkay Suite at a rate, then you will receive dining credits of the equivalent value as your room. The dining credits can be used in The Chow Kit Kitchen & Bar too.
Here, I am going to talk about my first experience on our stay on a weekend. I was warned (by a friend who went earlier) that the Den Room is pretty small, so we booked the Towkay Suite that was priced at Rm 250 nett last year October.
The Towkay Suite, or ‘The Boss Suite’ in Hokkien dialect, is about 22sqm. Our room was on the fifth floor, the room is small but it has what you need. It is equipped with a small lounge or sofa area and a luxurious king-sized bed, with floor-to-ceiling high window facing the bustling KL view with a view of KL Tower. I quite like it, as I like to watch the commuter and cars pass by.
Comfy stay, happy face.
We both love the scent of these Bespoke Organic Toiletries by Jeanie Botanicals, especially the shower gel!
Water refilling station is available at every floor too!
What I gotta highlight here is the The Chow Kit Kitchen & Bar that offers delicious Malay cuisine, specially crafted with recipes passed down from the generations in Chef Ell’s family.
Happy hour drinks are available from 5pm to 8pm on weekdays and 2pm to 7pm on weekends. Stay-in guests during weekends will get will get to enjoy happy hour all day long! Of course, we must not miss out a dose each for both of us during this superb bff staycay! Cheers to our friendship!
Bergedil Sumbat (Rm 20)
Deep fried bean curd skin stuffed with potato, minced beef and served with chilli padi kicap. It was pillowy soft with aromatic deep fried bean curd. We opted for more chili padi kicap because it went so well with the bergedil sumbat. Slurp, writing of this made me drool.
The Chow Kit Fish & Chips (Rm 58)
Signature tandoori marinated fish, served with crispy kale, hand-cut chips and tartar sauce.
This is the must order dish in The Chow Kit Kitchen & Bar and a very instagrammable one! Western dish but fused with local’s tandoori flavour, served whole on the table. Succulent meaty flesh with crispy skin, loaded on with lots of parmesan cheese and crispy kale too. the extra hand-cut chips cheered us up!
Daging Salai Masak Lemak (Rm 52)
Smoked beef in lemongrass and coconut milk, turmeric lead and terung pipit. Recommended by the staff as we couldn’t decide which daging dish to pick, I had to say it was really very delicious!
Nasi Ulam (Rm 8) that was very very very aromatic! Went so well with all the dishes we had!
We wished to try their desserts but we were stuffed these 3 dishes for just the two of us! Hearsay their desserts are pretty good too, so don’t miss out!
Took some rest after dinner and we headed off to the bar again for a drink! The bar offers quite a lot of cocktail selection. There are about nine of them on the signature cocktails’ page alone.
Their signature – The Chow Kit (Rm 35) for me and the Tanqueray Ten Gin & Tonic (Rm 32) with grapefruit and chamomile for the birthday girl!
After a good night sleep, we hopped over to The Chow Kit Kitchen & Bar again for breakfast! The Chow Kit Breakfast Set is priced at Rm 35 comes with any item from the breakfast menu, with a choice of tea or coffee and a fresh juice.
The Chow Kit French Toast
This is the best French toast I ever had! I daresay it is the best French Toast in the city! It has got a twist from the classic French toast, with thick cut brioche but very moist and fluffy, topped with whipped cream and berry compote.
Classic Fry-Up
Full English breakfast with 2 free-range eggs of your choice, chicken sausage, grilled tomato, sautéed mushrooms, baked beans and a choice of sourdough or gluten-free toast. We had sourdough and fry egg. However, the English breakfast was rather normal to us, guess we gotta settle on their Malaysians’ delights next.
Can’t wait for our next staycation again though we can only settle on travel within the states for now, but I believe this will end very soon! Then we will be able to travel interstates and crossing the border to Singapore. Keep believing! Meanwhile, let’s check out the Hotel in Singapore as there are lots of great Hotel promotion Singapore that we should save ‘em down. So once we will be able to fly again, just book and go!
