The Pawn Room @ TTDI, KL
I know The Pawn Room has been there for quite some times, but I was not able to visit until this day, to collect the prize I won from Hennessy!
The Pawn Room
This mystery speakeasy bar is hidden behind the wall of deposit boxes where it took me a bit of time searching for the “door”. As I pushed open the “boxes”, stepped into another dimly lit but vibrant space, with Chinese oldies running around the atmosphere, I was feeling as though I have time-travelled back to 1920s Shanghai.
A pretty spooky staircase walkway, up to the bar.
Rattan chairs, hanging lanterns, colourful porcelain stools, and oil-paper parasols on the ceiling; such a vintage scene. I must say every corner is very instagrammable.
Beautiful bar counter with the potions on the shelves, line up to be worked out for special chemistry.
I actually won myself a bottle of Hennessy VSOP from a contest by Hennessey Malaysia. The Pawn Room offered a mini lesson and demonstrated a few cocktails using Hennessy VS Cognac. They were kind enough to teach and demonstrate 4 cocktails such as Moscow Mule, Old fashioned, Deep Dive and Chendol!
Moscow Mule , a very simple cocktail that is made of a dose of liquor, lime juice and ginger ale
Old fashioned , a very classic cocktail that is made of a dose of liquor, sugar syrup, bitters and ice; give a stir to everything before serving.
Deep Dive is my favourite, made of a dose of liquor, pineapple juice, lemon juice and a little bit of sugar syrup. Full of citrusy note and tasted like summer!
Lastly was the Chendol from The Pawn Room’s recipe! A refreshing milky cocktail with a taste where local familiar, chendol!
Alright, it’s my turn to play at the counter! Want a Deep Dive?
Couldn’t resist the cocktail on the menu and I ordered this Tong Cha (Rm 38).
Chrysanthemum infused vodka, Goji Berry infused Bianco Vermouth, Longan Puer Tea Syrup, Tonic Bitter
I love it! It is more like a Liong-cha (herbal tea drink) to me.
We too, ordered a Whisky Flight before we left; 3 shots priced at Rm 75
If you have no idea where is the entrance, do look out for this door.
