Located at Solaris Dutamas, The 19th Suzuki Shoten is a Japanese rice and sake retail shop that offers a selection of freshly polished rice and also a wide range of sake from all over Japan. You can purchase them home to enjoy or even pop a bottle at their bar counter. Yes, they have a bar hidden at the back of the retail shop, beautifully designed in the zen-ish feel, fused with Japanese wooden structures and characteristic.
So first thing first, Sake in the Sake Bar.
There were a few options on the menu and we opted to try out this Chomonkyo Junmai (Rm 154) by Okazaki Shuzo in Yamaguchi. It is a semi dry junmai-shu with 60% rice polishing. Slightly sweet and easily goes well with many kind of cuisine.
I love it when we were allowed to choose our sake cups!
If you couldn’t find anything you fancy on the menu, you can check out the retail corner, purchase and add an amount of corkage to be opened at the bar area. If the whole bottle is too much for you, you can order glass/ carafe portion.
The food menu here is not very extensive but well-covered with food choices that go well with sake. We started off with an appetizer set (rm 39) that comes with 3 plates of appetizer of your choice. You may order individually but price at Rm 14 per plate.
Deep Fried Corn & Edamame was a delicious sake snack.
Japanese Leek Sauce Cucumber, a refreshing munches.
Smoked duck with cream cheese was something I think I can replicate it at home. This savoury went great with the sake!
Boiled Dumpling Spicy Sauce (Rm 16)
Tonpei-yaki (Rm 16)
Egg roll with pork fillings rolled inside and drenched with mayonnaise and okonomiyaki sauce.
Salmon Ikura Don
Some carbs dish to end our meal.
Alright, now I miss sake and izakaya fare!
