TOKYO: Shibuya Sky @ Shibuya Scramble Square
Tokyo is full of trendy spots but if you asked me where is the hottest spot in Tokyo right now, I think it has to go to this place in Shibuya; the Shibuya Sky which is located at the Shibuya Scramble Square.
Shibuya Sky
is the newest and hottest rooftop observatory deck that has just opened up its door in November 2019; offering a full 360 degree spectacular view of Shibuya district. It is located high up in 229 metre tall Shibuya Scramble Square and I was in time to be one of the first few batches to check out this coolest place in the city!
At the ground floor of Shibuya Scramble Square, we took the lift up to 14th floor – the Sky Gate which housed the ticket purchase counter and also the main access to the Sky Stage (the rooftop observation deck) by the elevator.
View from the Sky Gate (14th Floor)
The admission fee is priced at ¥ 2000 for adult. We pre-purchased our ticket online and it was ¥ 1800 per pax.
TIPS: Sunset view over here is pretty amazing. On the clear day, you will be able to get the Mount Fuji view (in mini size). Remember to check out the sunset time before purchasing the ticket. Enter the facility 30 mins to 1 hour prior to the sunset time, so you can get 3 views: day, sunset and night views. Sunset timing’s tickets are always selling fast. Be sure to purchase online.
In November 2019, the sun is set at around 4.30pm (local time). We bought the 3.40pm slot and entered around that time.
As the lift took us straight up to the observatory floor, the light was darkening and there was a beautiful digital projecting playing on the ceiling of the elevator, completed with sounds effect and some wind (I felt).
Once arrived at the Sky Stage, you are required to keep your belongings including cap, hat, selfie stick, bag, umbrella and etc into the locker provided. After that, you are free to roam around the space. Just take your time to enjoy the scenic skyscraper view of Shibuya district slowly and freely.
Sofa and hammocks are available over here where you get to sit down and relax while enjoying the view.
Here was my eng tao brother doing some instagrammable pose.
See, we were just in time for the stunning sunset view! It was extremely stunning!
There are a few instagrammable spots and this – the edge of the rooftop is the most popular one. Do expect a long queue over here for photo.
One with the gang who travelled to Tokyo together!
Beautiful light up view of Shibuya district.
Don’t forget to check out the Sky Gallery too, where you can enjoy the interactive digital artworks here. Take some time to explore; you will be amazed with the high tech installation over here. I just wished I had more time to discover this place!
A classy yet striking Paradise Lounge is located at the same floor as the Sky Gallery. Grab a glass or a snack to pair it with the scenic views here.
Souvenirs to bring home! This souvenir shops offers a variety of Shibuya Sky related gifts and items. Some of them are pretty artsy and definitely not some typical landmark/symbol of japan.
After you have done with Shibuya Sky, take you time to shop or eat in this Shibuya Scramble Square, it has more than 200 shopping and dining places for you to check out! The latest Tokyo souvenir – Press Butter Sand is located here too (I will write about Press Butter Sand soon)!
