Tokyo: Japanese Sweet Potato Kintaro 芋問屋金太郎 @ Outer Tsukiji Market
Whenever I dropped by Tokyo, there is a place I will definitely head over, especially on the day itself before flying home (if my flight is late afternoon or night time). Japanese Sweet Potato Kintaro in Outer Tsukiji Market is the place! Why? For their super fresh juicy seasonal fresh fruits and super sweet sweet potatoes (if they are in season).
Japanese Sweet Potato Kintaro 芋問屋金太郎 is located at the Outer Tsukiji Market, at the building next to the shop selling ceramic; this building is not always patronized by the people or tourist (I feel). This indoor market has what you need, from fresh seafood to vegetables to fresh fruits and even fruit juice; you can even purchase the fresh seafood and dine at the dining area provided on the second floor.
Uni heaven
Japanese Sweet Potato Kintaro 芋問屋金太郎
Japanese Sweet Potato Kintaro is the store I frequent always. It is a sweet potato shop but it offers more than just sweet potatoes. You will be greeted by friendly lady who can speak decent English. She will tell you that her boss is the action guy and she will guarantee you the juiciest sweetest fruits ever.
So far, I have no-fail experience with their fruits here. Just mention to her you wanna bring those fruits back to your home country as souvenirs, and she will pick the best stuff for you.
Purple sweet potatoes that costed only ¥ 300 and different variety of strawberries, Japanese citrus fruits Kinkan; these were available during winter this year.
Pione grapes, white peaches, pears, muscat shines; these were available in Autumn last year.
Huge momo (peach)
During my last visit, I immediately grabbed one box of strawberries and the lady nicely washed them for me when I told her I wanna eat on spot. That’s really sweet of her.
