Eight Pot Taiwan Steamboat 8鍋臭臭鍋 @ Sri Petaling
We have stinky tofu, we have steamboat… but do we have stinky tofu steamboat/ hotpot in Malaysia? No right? But now, the famous 8 Pot Steamboat from Taiwan is in Malaysia, bringing this combo to our stinky tofu fans here.
Eight Pot Taiwan Steamboat (8鍋臭臭鍋)
Has more than 60 outlets in Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macau. They have now set up their first outlet here in KL, in this forever busy food hub Seri Petaling, located just right opposite Bunk & Bilik or a few door steps away from The Black Whale. If you are a fan of steamboat and also a fan of stinky tofu, you must visit this place!
Eight Pot Steamboat offers a total of 9 types of steamboat soup base and one of them is their bestseller stinky tofu steamboat that will make you crazy after it. Besides that, there are also 8 other soup bases such as garlic, satay, Korean kimchi, thai flavor, milk special, yam, Taiwan spicy and original seafood. Every hotpot has their special ingredients in it and most of the ingredients such as pork balls and duck’s blood rice cake came all the way from Taiwan! Every pot is priced reasonably at Rm 29 and each of them is completed with a bowl of rice or glass noodles. Add on is available if you would love to add on more ingredients.
Prince instant noodles, came all the way from Taiwan. You may find it in one of the hotpot below, or you can add on into your hotpot.
Sauce area, with most sauces imported in from Taiwan.
House Special Hotpot 招牌臭臭豬肉鍋
Comes with ingredients such as signature stinky tofu, duck’s blood rice cake, chinese cabbage, pork slices, pork balls, quail eggs, tomato, coagulated pig blood cubes, enoki mushrooms, tomatoes, clams and many more; a true authentic stinky tofu pot flavour, stinky but fragrant at the same time. I couldn’t stop feeding myself on the soup! Delicious!
Add on more stinky tofu for extra pungent flavor, haha!
Thai Flavour Hotpot 泰式海鮮豬肉鍋
Slightly diferent from the Thai flavor we usually come across, it was milky and sourish, I believe this is quite a twist to Taiwanese or Hong Kongers.
Garlic Beef Hotpot 香蒜牛肉鍋
Another favourite of mine, heftily dosed with garlic to flavor the soup!
Taiwan Spicy Hotpot 台灣麻辣牛肉鍋
If you are a ma la hotpot fan, don’t miss this out. It was hot and spicy with slight numbing effect. However, if you are a big fan of spicy food, this may be not as ass-kicking as you may like; I am not sure if the spiciness can be adjusted, but you guys can try checking out with the staff.
Korean Kimchi Hotpot 韓式豬肉鍋
Original Seafood Hotpot 原味海鮮豬肉鍋
Milk Special Hotpot 牛奶豬肉鍋
I love the beancurd roll absorbing the milky broth.
Satay Beef Hotpot 沙茶牛肉鍋
Mountain Yam Hotpot 山藥薏仁豬肉鍋
Overall, all the hotpot flavours were pretty good. Personally, I fancied the House Special Hotpot with extra stinky tofu added in, stinky yet aromatic at the same time. LOL. I like Garlic Beef Hotpot for its garlicky flavor and the Mountain Yam Hotpot for its refreshing taste from the essence of the yam and vegetables.
