Mino Valentine’s Special @ Sushi Oribe, KL
I hope my sushi post (again) won’t bored you guys as I cannot refrain myself from sharing this experience with you all. Sorry guys, please bear with me a little.
It was the pre-valentine’s day, Jessie and I, both singles us decided to “date” one of our favourite chefs, Nao-san and splurge ourselves on a sushi lunch. *self-love game strong here. LOL*
We were lucky to get our counter seats as all counter seats were taken by the couples on pre-valentine’s day. I couldn’t imagine how it was during the Valentine’s Day. You may click into and read about my first visit, second visit and third visit respectively.
Mino Valentine’s Special
Appetizer: Fugu no Kawa no Nikogori
We started off with this beautiful appetizer that deserved another few shots. Jellied Puffer Fish’s skin, a beauty food for us because it is packed with collagens!
Toro Aburi no Temaki
Again, Nao-san never fails to surprise us. On our first piece, he handed over this aburi toro handroll. OMGGGG, I am spoilt to max! I was overjoyed (in a hyper way) because I never expected to get this as my first piece. Love the lightly torched toro with its oil oozed out after torching.
Sawara
Spanish mackerel
Shirauo nori no tsukudani nose
Ice fish, another new item in my dictionary
Katsuo – Bonito
My first trial on this too. It tasted pretty heavy to me.
Kobashira – Surf Clam Adductor Muscle
New thing!!!
Kohada – Gizzard Shad
Marinated for 3 days, topped with hojiso flower and kombu. It was just in time to taste them! The sourish-ness was just right, less sourish than what we had last month.
Shimaji – Horse Mackerel
Wasabi leaves and pickled daikon
Surprise surprise, this round the wasabi leaves were less spicy.
Anago – Conger Eel (Salt and Yuzu kosho)
Love this very much as the anago was softer with velvety texture. A new texture my palate discovered from anago.
Sayori – Japanese Halfbeak
Engawa no Temaki
Flounder’s Fin Handroll!
Aiyooo, how to explore new sushiya when your favourite chef keeps capture your heart like this?!
Sumi Ika – Cuttlefish
Beautifully cut and lightly torched. It was extremely aromatic to go on the palate. Texture wise, awesome!
Iidako – Baby octopus.
Came really huge and I had to eat its “head” first. Springy, bouncy, QQ, whatever could describe it all came out. LOL.
The Futomaki that Jessie has been pestering Nao-san to make it.
Thick sushi roll with Akami, Chutori and Ootoro and topped with our favourite UNI!!! We were always crazy about uni, hoping to try out its variety in summer.
OMG, I was in heaven again.
Ikura – Salmon roe
Since it was pre-valentine’s day, Nao-san made us this ending, in a heart shape.
We were finally spoilt with the light and smooth Valentine’s Day Special Tofu Cheesecake as our sweet ending.
Ok, #这是一条不归路 LOL.
