Akari Japanese Restaurant @ Taman Segar, Cheras

My all-time-to-go izakaya near my area has closed down, I thought, I will never able to have decent Japanese meal around my area (if there is a sudden craving). Glad to see that there is another new face popping up at the other end of the corner recently…

Akari Japanese Restaurant

Located at the busy hub in Taman Segar, the same row as Maybank (but another corner end), Akari Japanese Restaurant is one that serves semi fine Japanese cuisine at affordable mid-range price. Chef Lum is the soul behind this restaurant. He has more than 30 years’ experience in Japanese cuisine. Fresh ingredients especially vegetables and seafood are used to prepare the dishes. I’d have to say, their seafood dishes are all reasonably priced. The menu is pretty extensive, featuring a series of appetizer, salad, sashimi, sushi, temaki, yakimono, tempura, ramen, and many more. There is even a page full of chawan mushi in the menu.

Grilled salmon with sweet sauce. Hah, love that creamy mentaiko top on the grilled salmon!

Ebi Shioyaki (Rm 24.9)
Grilled king prawn with sea salt. Just look at how huge this king prawn is! Super fresh, succulent and bouncy, that’s what put up all!

Soft Shell Crab Karaage (Rm 19.9)
Deep fried soft shell crab. They were plump and meaty, unlike the others I had tried which were thin and flat.

Golden Soft Shell Prawn (Rm 22.9)
Deep fried soft shell prawn with special sauce. The shell was edible!!!

Lamb Kakuni (Rm 58.9)
Braised lamb

Kaisen Kara Ramen (Rm 25.9)
Spicy soup ramen with seafood is one must not be missed. The soup was packed with essence from the sea and yep, the seafood was ultimately fresh!
