Three X Co @ Bangsar Shopping Centre
Speakeasy bar is quite a trend in KL and Penang lately. There is no signage, no direction, and nothing at all, as hidden as it is. With words of mouth, people will just flock into enjoy the mysteriousness. They will know where exactly the entrance, also the pin code to enter the premise.
I have visited one quite sometimes ago and I proclaim it as my favourite because they serve very amazing cocktail.
Three X Co
You will never thought, it’s a bar behind this door.
To be honest, this place made me walk up and down, here and there, searched like a mad one during my visit. Didn’t know that it is just hidden behind this retro looking fancy barber shop.
Three X Co, the collaboration between three buddies and the Giffard West Cup World Champion, mixologist David Hans. Yes, David Hans is back! His drinks are back!!! Back then I used to frequent in Ojos Bar (which has closed down now), and I seriously fall in love with his creative and heart-alluring potions. This new place has a blend of oriental with western culture, so do their drinks. Of course, good cocktails do come at a price but I can assure you they serve really good and mind-blowing cocktails that you will keep going back for more.
Mixologists who are standing behind the bar counter are the soul of the whole space. Aside from preparing your drinks, they are loaded with lots of knowledge about that the drink, the composition, the flavours, and the creativity to make a glass of fantastic cocktail.
I had a few try on their cocktail. Please forgive me if I didn’t get their name right, as I was already turning upside down after some drinks. LOL.
Eastern Poem (Rm 45)
Chrysanthemum infused gin, Pei Pa Koa, Yuzu tonic water and ginseng rootlets
A good mild cocktail to start with. Like the idea of infusing Chinese elements into the western cocktail. It gave a good balance and pretty much similar the taste of herbal tea.
Angers Potion (Rm 40)
Menthe Pastille, Giffard Crème de Cacao White, Don Julio Reposado, Campari, Watermenlon Juice, Lemon Juice.
Angers Potion appeared gorgeously in the round flask. Refreshing and minty. Something for the summer.
Final touch up
Mr Wong’s Choice (Rm 48)
Chinese Herbs infused Bourbon, Fernet Branca, Pei Pa Kou, Liquorice
Love the spell of this. It was very herbal too and very soothing but slightly stronger than the previous one.
One round of shots before continuing for more of the signatures.
The house serves some snack to go with cocktail
I… forgot the name of this
Fairy Tales (Rm 40)
Tanqueray London Dry Gin, Absinthe, Giffard Melon Liquer, Green Apple, Lemon Juice, Edible Flower it was so preeeeetttyyyyy!
Blushing Melon (Rm 40)
John Jameson, Fluer de SUreau Sauvage, Wintermelon Tea, Lemon Juice, Cucumber, Rosemary
David too, created something new out of a sudden on the spot. This was composited with Roku Gin, another favourite gin of mine. Visual, scent and taste, all in. It was very aromatic! Hopefully this will be included in their menu.
Our night was ended with Signature Shots. Specially made for us; with Tequila, fresh lemon juice, candied lemon slice, salted sugar or their “drugs” and coffee grounds.
