Valentine’s Afternoon Tea @ Drawing Room, St. Regis Kuala Lumpur
Afternoon tea is one of the things I fancy most. When St. Regis first launched their afternoon tea, I told the real tai-tai, we gotta make our way here (but the real tai-tai made her way here earlier without me). Imagine, being seated in the lux looking comfy Drawing Room, sipping over a cup of freshly brewed tea, nibble on the flaky butter scones and the never-ending conversation all afternoon. So therapeutic! How I wish I can have one Sunday like this every month.
So then when we were planning for the RICEgang reunion, this place just popped up in our mind. These real tai-tai(s) decided to ditch the family, escape from the work and spared a short 3 hours for this pampering session and made each other’s special Valentine!
Drawing Room, St. Regis Kuala Lumpur
Surrounded by the bright and cosy ambience, the Drawing Room is furnished with an elegant and sophisticated setting. Tier crystal chandelier, plush comfy cushioned chairs, and also featured a large horse sculpture by Colombian artist – Fernando Botero in the middle of Drawing Room. Also, the friendly and attentive staffs. All these add up and give you a real tai-tai feel.
Those pastel colours teapot, tea cup and plates are something to die for. My heart just cannot take it!!! Ahhh !!!
In conjunction with the special occasion Valentine’s Day, they were serving their Valentine’s Afternoon Tea set instead of the normal one. Price at Rm 168 nett per pax, comes with a choice of tea, sandwich canapes, scones, pastries and a pink chocolate fountain!!! All pinky pinky in colour, so lovely! Pricewise, it is on the higher side but given you are served with foie gras, king crab and touches of black truffles in the canapes, that’s the price to pay for, I guess.

Started off with savoury canapes, we were served all 4 types for the first round. Then, refill as much as you love for few more rounds. Yep, it’s free flow concept for the canape throughout the session and you may pick which you like among all four. From the given selection, I truly enjoy the foie gras on toasted brioche, softly hinted with sweet wine. The smoked salmon rye bread and king crab and avocado were kind of lovely too!
An afternoon tea is never completed without the scones. I must say they serve one of the best scones in town. Flaky, buttery, crumbly fragrant scones; layering with the English clotted cream (ohh I love!!!) and strawberry jam.
Moving to the second level was the cookie shooter; shooter glass liked, made with chocolate chip cookies in reddish pink, lined with chocolate layer and filled with dark chocolate milk. I like munching on it, and sipping on the chocolate drink but a few tai-tai find it was a lil sweet.
And then the sweet tier. The Raspberry Tart surprised me as the custard was filled upside down while the éclair was good too! Especially the cream they used which was fluffy and creamy, staked in between the puffy pastry and hence, the éclair!
And then finally they presented us the mini chocolate fountain in pink!!! So pretty we cannot! Served with heart cookie pops and fruit pops but we find the strawberry chocolate fountain a little too sweet to our liking, perhaps we were over satiated with the earlier sweets.
