It has been a real long while I don’t get to put up a tea dress and enjoy the tai-tai style afternoon tea (#fake tai-tai here). Together with kampungboycitygal, we dressed up on a Sunday, came here for the tete-a-tete session and churned into the aromatic tea atmosphere.

Tea Tales Around The World

With the theme of around the world, do expect something about tea and something around the world are happening here in The Lounge of Hilton KL.

Ronnefeldt, one of my favourite teas is featuring their very rare selection from the tea growing countries such as Korean Flower, Taiwan Ti Dung, Nepal Jun Chiyabari, Japan Sencha Kiyomizu and Green Chinese Spring.

Take a look on the packaging on each tin as it represents each country. If you fancy the tea you have tried over here, you can also make your purchase at Hilton KL.

We managed to try a few pots of tea from the Ronnefeldt’s Tea Couture series. Started off with Taiwan Ti Dung which is a type of oolong tea and appears in jade green colour; nutty fragrant.

We also had the Rooibos Chocolate Truffle which was the non-caffeinated tea. It was very aromatic with the touch of sweet scent and chocolaty smooth note lingering round the oral cavity.

Korean Flower, what a beautiful name. It is actually the green tea that is grown in the fertile soil of volcanic island of Jeju. The leaves are then steamed and roasted which gave a floral- nutty note to the palate.

Finally, we tried something which we were really curious about its taste – the 1st Assam Blend. We actually thought it would taste like Assam, with maybe tangy spicy taste. But to our surprise, it was not what we thought. Assam is actually the black tea named after the region of its production, Assam in India; and the blend is from one of the best gardens in Assam. It is one of the strongest in the Ronnefeldt’s Tea Couture; spicy and malty with fine texture. You can have it with milk for a smooth aftertaste but I opted out as I like mine the way it is.

I love the Earl Grey Lemon Tart. Rich chocolaty flaky tart base with sweet tangy lemony top, sponge and the earl grey jelly hidden within the tart. Although the chocolate tart base was slightly overpowering with chocolaty flavour, slightly overtook the earl grey hint from the jelly, I still ate 2 pieces of this. Too yum! I love anything with tea infused jelly in the pastry.

Masala Chai Rice Pudding with Apricot Compote. (no photo)
I thought this was very Indian due to the Indian spice and herbs; but to my surprise, it was not. It was quite compatible with the mildly sweeten apricot compote.
