Cristallo di Luna @ Pacific Regency Hotel Suites, KL
My very first and the only time stepping into Luna Bar was N years ago… until I have lost count when was it. Seated under the moon and stars, overlooking the beautiful KL view and KL tower, Luna Bar is always a romantic place for the couples and a happening place for a whole gang of buddies to get together. There was a lounge area too, which is just opposite the Luna Chill Out Bar, is equipped with comfortable couches where one can enjoy the skyscrapers of KL.
Now, the lounge area has transformed into a romantic dining area with beautiful setting.
Cristallo di Luna
Taking the lift up to 33rd floor and then walk up the staircase, this is where Cristallo di Luna located. An elegant dining area with dangling chandeliers and floor to ceiling glass window overlooking the magnificent view of the city; serving impressive and modern fine food that wouldn’t seriously burn a hole to your pocket (as compared to the others fine dine restaurant). After dinner, you can always hop over to the open air sky bar and party till late. The dining area may colour in a very black way but we have actually given some opinions to the them. Hoping this place will turn a little bright and friendlier soon! Many thanks to the team and chef of Cristallo di Luna for having us over to sample some of the signature items in the New Menu.
And now, let’s check out their Brand New Menu!
Orange Juice, Long Island
Complementary bread
Re-invented Buffalo Mozzarella stuffed in Roma Tomato, Pine Nuts, Arugula and Basil Emulsion (Rm 15)
We started off with something light. It was a thoughtful choice by the chef as it woke up our taste buds and getting prepared for the next course.
Warm Seared Scallops and Prawn with Ruby Red Grapefruit, Orange and Frisee Salad, Piquillo Coulis (Rm 30)
The scallops and prawns were fresh, with the hint of sweetness from the sea. I love how it blended beautifully with the citrusy fruits; an extra sweetness to the whole combination.
Kaffir Scented Lobster Soup with Sea Scallop and Coconut Foam (Rm 30)
One of the best dishes of the night. I love the Cristallo di Luna’s version. The chef has made it so perfect. It was a rich and thick lobster bisque, bursting with flavours and not overly salty. I tried some out there which made my tongue craving for more bread after the bowl of bisque. But this one was really yummy and we so wished to have more! Hehe.
Coming to the main, Grilled Tenderloin of Black Angus Beef (Rm 80) was great!
Pommes au Dauphinoise, Fricassee of Wild Mushroom, Glazed Baby Onions, Morel Jus, Truffle Scented Oil.
A perfect medium rare slice of steak appeared in sweet pinkish blush; tender, succulent and juicy. We love how it was paired with the Pommes au Dauphinoise, the gratin potato which was laid elegantly on the side; a very fragrant piece of carbs. Words are unable to describe how heavenly we were on each mouthful of the combination.
Oven Baked Cod Fillet, Mascarpone and Asparagus Orzo Risotto (Rm 50)
Also another signature’s of theirs. With vibrate green asparagus topped with orangey red Flying Fish Roe and drench in the Saffron Butter Sauce. The cod fish was very fresh, compatible well with the bed of fluffy velvety risotto.
Came to the sweet ending…
Espresso Crème Brule with Vanilla Foam and Macadamia Ice Cream (Rm 20)
Lovely combination of the bitter-y coffee based crème Brule with the sweet Haagen Dazs Nutty Macadamia Ice Cream!
‘The Tarik’ Ginger Panna Cotta, Kaya Butter Toast (Rm 15)
Quite a thing! With the fuse of Italian and Malaysian flavours. Dip in the kaya butter toast into the panna cotta for the mix of different flavour. My very first time seeing kaya butter toast in a fine dining restaurant.
Chilled Strawberries, Passion Fruits and Mango Soup in Pavlova Bowl (Rm 20)
A very berry and tropical dessert.
