Specially selected legendary street food of Penang and gather them under one roof, there comes the name…

Penang One

Used to be a few doors away from Alliance Bank Bandar Puteri Puchong, it has now relocated to a few rows of shop away from the previous premise for a larger dining area that caters more tables and seats. Few of my friends have tried the Penang One and urged that I should drop by if the craving suddenly hit on me. Penang food, yes, why not?!

Such a brilliant idea to have Penang good food under one roof. It definitely helps to kill the homesickness for those penang-lang(s), and also for us (from KL) who crave for delicious Penang food but finding Penang is not the every-weekend-can-go place.

Duck Egg Char Koay Teow (RM 10.9)
This is Kampung Jawa Pee Chuan’s version; filled with lots of wok hei and taste totally the same as what I had in Penang!!! Flat rice noodles were stir-fried over high heat, tossed in with pork fats, light and dark soy sauce, chilli, prawns, cockles, egg, bean sprouts and chives. Would be delighted if the portion comes bigger.

Pulau Tikus’s Keong Curry Mee
Brimmed with ingredients such as prawns, cuttle fish, coagulated blood, tofu pok, long bean, cockles and mint leaves. This had my dad’s mouth slurping all the way till the last drop of curry. I could see how great it was.

Duck meat Koay Teow Th’ng (Rm 8.5)
Comes from Pulau Tikus Market, this bowl of noodles also brimmed with condiments like duck meat, shredded pork, fish cake, fish ball and smooth coagulated duck blood. We found that fish balls were a little fishy, but dad claimed that’s the penang way.

Hokkien Mee (Rm 8.5)
Known as prawn mee to us. Cooked with aromatic stock that made from prawns, onion, and chilli paste. A real penang taste!

Muar Chee (Rm 3.9)
Came all the way from Genting Café, Island Glades. Soft chewy steamed glutinous rice cake snack that loaded with lots of sugar, ground roasted peanut, sesame seed; and what came best are the fried shallots that give a distinctive flavour to the muar chee.

The dishes here are really good, taste exactly the same like those in Penang. Just a gripe, the price is on a higher side. We will be happier if the portions come bigger, then we will find it worthy to pay for.
