Lian Bee Hokkien Mee 联美福建面 @ Jalan Cheng Lock, KL
Since 1946…
One of the very old taste (古早味)… Lian Bee Hokkien Mee 联美福建面
Tucked in a back alley in between buildings, there is this stall that serves great plates of Hokkien Mee. Operating for more than 60 years, they are still serving plates of Hokkien Mee in the traditional way which is stir-frying by using charcoal fire.
Pork meat soup 肉饺汤 wowed my heart. Very flavourful bowl of soup; the pork slices were lightly coated with corn flour, smooth and tender and served with lots of greens in the soup. A tummy warmer it was.
One of their signatures – Hokkien Mee
Looking glossy in dark soy sauce; the plate of noodles was tossed with real wok hei. The secret weapon in the noodles?! That will be the handful of lards that were deep fried and stir-fried with the noodles. I couldn’t stop myself from munching the crackly crunchy lards; the aromatic moment was unforgettable. And I did find it better than the other one.
Hokkien mee suah was quite a special one. The mee suah was coated in dark colour too (as usual, that’s the hokkien style); soft but not too mushy, there were still texture in between each strand of mee suah. Next time, I am going to try out their mee hoon as I was told that they used quality imported mee hoon which is very unique in terms of texture!
