Han Lim Seafood Restaurant 翰林海鲜饭店 @ Taman Midah, Cheras
On the real day itself, it was simply a quiet celebration. No big gang, no huge crowd. I enjoyed the simple dinner with the bestie-couple, they bought me the-freshest-meal ever!
***
Han Lim Seafood Restaurant, a seafood restaurant tucked in Taman Midah which was formerly located at the Pasar Pagi Taman Midah. The new place is bigger with more seats available. Han Lim Seafood Restaurant gets all the seafood supply from Bagan Datok, a small township in Perak. Source they used are really fresh and juicy; with minimal seasoning, the seafood turn out to be… hmm… heavenly.
白炔苏东 Sotong (RM 14 for 400g)
One of their signature dishes.
The sotong/squid was blanched beforehand, with simple cooking method and minimal seasoning (ie soy sauce), fried garlic and finaly some chopped parsley, the squids/ sotong turned out to be something amazing! the texture was crunchy! Juicy!!! You wouldn’t stop yourself from eating this. Yummm…
金香啦啦 Kam Heong LaLa (RM 12)
Fat Juicy Lala With hint of wok hei; it was great to go with the rice.
蛋白蒸虾 Steamed prawns with egg whites (RM 23 for 300g)
The succulent big fat prawns were not overly done. It left us nothing in the plate. We even polished clean the soup/steam egg white as there was full of essence from the prawns.
清蒸石斑鱼 Steam Garoupa (RM 30 for 600g)
Again, fresh ingredient requires only simple cooking method and minimal use of seasoning. Never waste any of the food we ordered, we left the only fish bone in our plates.
Aiks, should have ta-pao the fish bone home for my pet cat. Meow…
Last weekend, I revisted again with my family. As usual, the blanched squids and steamed prawns were something not to be missed.
We had additional order of 甜酸蟹 sweet and sour crabs (RM 50/kg)
The crabs were a lil sourish to us. Still prefer it to be done in kam heong way or buttery way. Anyhow, it still gave us fingers-licking-good-experience.
Steamed LaLa with Rice Wine (RM 15)
Steamed with fried garlic, chilli, ginger, and sweeten by dose of rice wine, the lalas were sooooo sweet and juicy.
I find this tasted better than the LaLa in Kam Heong style.
On our first visit, prawn, lala, squids and garoupa fish (+rice) costed us about RM 80 for 3 pax. One my second visit with the family, it, crab, prawns, squids, lala and a vege (and bowls of rice of course) costed us about RM 130 (for 5 pax).
And now I don’t have to drive all the way to Klang for seafood! This seafood restaurant is located about 7- 10 minutes from my place. The plus point is… a meal over here won’t cost me an arm or a leg. I could still enjoy fresh seafood at affordable price.
*The price listed above are based on seasonal price
**Be early if you are here on the weekends, the restaurant can be very very very crowded.
