Nana’s Green Tea Café @ The Gardens, Mid Valley
Ohhhh, Nana!!!
Nana’s Green Tea Café is now my new love. Whenever I drop by Mid Valley, for sure I will queue up at Nana’s or grab their green tea soft ice cream if I were in a rush. Their green tea stuff is real good!!!
This café is very popular and often known as the Japanese Starbucks in Japan; using matcha, green powdered tea in part of their concept and promoting the Japanese tea drinking and food culture. Other than serving green tea based beverages and desserts, they do have some main courses such as rice and udon to dig in and fill up ones tummy.
Glad to have it here now in KL after their ventures in Shanghai and Singapore besides Japan and let’s dine under the cherry blossom “trees” – sakura! What come great are their set lunches too that are available daily from 11.30am to 2.30pm and 11.30am to 2pm on weekend and public holiday. Priced only at Rm 18.8+ per set inclusive a drink of your choice, so value for money.
Matcha Latte was added with milk and sugar. Fragrance and not overly sweet. Quite a satisfying latte to me. Hehe.
Thin Matcha Green Tea with a scoop of matcha ice cream. Thin matcha green tea which was unsweetened and I have it flavoured with a scoop of matcha ice cream
Green tea fans will be happy here, as you will be spoilt with choices of green tea. One may get to choose from the bitter sweet Uji-Cha, mild bitter sweet Karigane-Cha, toasty and nutty Hoji-Cha or roasty brown rice aroma Genmai-Cha. We have tried the Uji-Cha and Genmai-Cha, love both!!! They are still very fragrant and flavourful even with second round of hot water.
Genmai-Cha
Salmon Don (Rm 18.8)
Fresh salmon sashimi served over warm millet rice garnished with sesame nori, Japanese pickled ginger, spring onion and pea sprout. It came with a bowl of miso soup and the special appetizing sauce. The millet rice consists of 10 different kinds of cereals mixed with polished rice. The rice is rich in nutrients such as minerals, vitamins and dietary fiber which is good for the heart.
Tori Soboro Don (Rm 16.8)
Special marinated minced chicken served over warm millet rice and garnished with pea sprout, spring onion and Japanese style poached egg. The pea sprout was quite raw to me. Tips, mix everything up while the rice is still hot!
Toss everything up and enjoy.
Locomoco Hamburg (Rm 20.8)
Beef or chicken patty served with warm millet rice with “Homemade Tomato Locomoco Sauce” garnished with red leaf lettuce, capsicum, broccoli and Japanese style poached egg.
Salmon Udon with Cream Sauce
Salmon with broccoli, corn, sesame and udon noodles in the light cream sauce.
Since the parfait was served with the plastic cup (at my time of visit). I decided skip that and had Matcha Anmitsu (Rm 16.8).
With Matcha ice cream, red bean paste and Mochi served on a bed of “Kanten” Japanese healthy traditional jelly. This Japanese jelly is made of seaweeds, which is high in fiber and consist very low calories. Remember to drizzle the desserts with the fragrant caramelized brown sugar syrup for extra flavour! Yummy!!!
Green Tea Soft Cream (Rm 6.8)
Soft and creamy green tea ice cream.
