The Traditional English Afternoon Tea @ The Lobby Lounge, Ritz Carlton KL
My BFF and I fancy afternoon teas very much. We will try our best to search for the great afternoon teas in town, mark the date and head for them. Afternoon tea in TWG and Bistro 42 are something we love; the one in Sheraton Imperial is value for money; and the one in Shangri-La is quite a filling one. And right now, we have one that is now topped our afternoon tea list!
So, dress up in sweet dress, put on a lovely pair of heels and follow us to a luxury English afternoon tea journey; be a tai-tai (that’s my BFF) and a fake tai-tai like me
Traditional English Afternoon Tea @ the Lobby Lounge, Ritz Carlton KL
Available daily from 3 to 5 pm
Except Sundays
The tea set is priced at rm 75++ per person, comes with a 3-tier filled with delectable bits and pieces and a pot of tea.
I must say, I am amazed with the environment in Ritz Carlton. It is such a beautiful and peaceful place to enjoy the 3 tiers afternoon tea set that comes with exquisite and petite pastries and cakes. Once we stepped in, we were ushered to our seats by the lovely staff. As we dropped ourselves on the comfy highback chairs, the staff pushed in a cart with about 40 types of specialty teas from Ronnefeldt ranging from black, green, herbal and fruit teas.
Not sure which and where to start from?! Always ask for recommendation :]
The staff explained every single thing to us, from A to Z and finally, we settled for a fruit tea – Raspberry Royal and a black tea – the Classic Orange Pekoe with the additional of rm 27++ for another pot of tea.
Brewed in the teapot and strained into the tea cup
As usual, I was fascinated by their fine bone china tea set; classy elegant pieces.
Started with the savouries at the bottom level, there were Quiche, chicken and mushroom pie, freshly baked apple scone and plain butter scone.
Love the quiche with the lightly salty fillings that went so well with the sweet pastry base.
The scones were warm buttery and light; served along with butter, shot glasses of fluffy soft whipped cream, and mini jams from Bonne Maman – Raspberry, Strawberry preserves and Bitter Orange Marmalade.
Moved on to the middle level that featured the Cucumber fingers, ham and cheese with bread and smoked salmon and fish roe on rolls. Everything was very delicious and we wish to have extra of them.
The top level was all the sweet treats such as chocolate and orange éclair, nutty honey-ed shortcake with strawberry mouse and chocolate jelly, mango cheesecake with chocolate border, berry macaroon, tart with berries that touched up with 24 karat gold leaf. All were Luxury and fine.
As always, we did not put high expectation on hotel’s macaroon, but theirs did surprise us. The macaroon was crunchy, a little bit chewy in the center and not sweet. Not the very best but still a good almond biscuit.
Thick layer of dark chocolate ganache on the choux pastry and puffed up with tangy orange mousse cream.
Soft cheesecake topped with tiny bits of mango and chocolate border. Soft and delicate one.
We love this piece of nutty cake with mousse and chocolate jelly. The combination was a very interesting and each layer filled with surprises.
By the way, your teapot will never go empty. We had ours refilled a few times, the tea was still as flavourful and fragrant as the first pot.
Sipping her black tea; Enjoying every sips of my fruity tea.
A set is sufficient to be shared among 2. Just order another pot of tea and indulge the luxury afternoon tea; relax and enjoy for one whole afternoon.
