Going classic; on an Afternoon Tea
UPDATE 2015: Check out Shangri-La Hotel’s latest Chocolate Symphony Afternoon Tea which is available on every Saturday; 2.30pm to 5pm.
Scorching hot weather, the best way to deal with it is hiding myself in the air-con-ed area and… relax. I found one here; aside from the air-con-ed area, I could really enjoy greenery with my eyes as well as the touches of sweets-and-savouries in my mouth, here in Lobby Lounge of Shangri La Hotel.

Love the high floor-to-ceiling glass walls, over-looking the tranquil view of the garden.
A Classic Afternoon Tea
Priced at Rm 55 per set that served with a choice of Ronnefeldt tea or coffee.
The three-tier high tea set comes with…
A selection of finger snacks
Reuben style black olive ciabatta
Egg truffle mayonnaise on soft roll
Cereal muffin with smoked salmon and cream cheese
Toasted chicken mushroom sandwich
Curried prawn with pita bread
Classic Delicacies
Citrus madeleines
Classic opera
Feuillantine and rose macaroon with raspberry gel
Coffee religieuses
Mascarpone cream
Royal icing allunmette
Berry curd tartlets
Homemade plain and sultana raisin scones
Strawberry jam and orange marmalade
They may not be the very best desserts in town but definitely one of a better one. I love the Opera cake which was rich, nutty and not too sweet. Tartlets were lovely too. Macaroon was lack of flavour and a bit sweet to my liking. The portion of the savouries was quite filling one (yes, I do love it); my only gripe was some of the bread were a little hard to chew on. Plain scone and sultana raisin scone were huge too, served with cream and jam; would be better if they came piping hot from the over. Still prefer the scones from Smokehouse.
The afternoon tea set is good enough to share between two (or three); the pot of tea can last for about three to four rounds; just order another pot of tea and you and your friends will be able to sit till dusk.
They do serve Traditional Malaysian Afternoon Tea too.
